Our youth leave Monday, July 7, for camp at Falls Creek, in Oklahoma. Be in prayer for all the youth as they learn to grow closer to God this week. Also be in prayer for the sponsors, speakers, and worship leaders as they lead the youth this week.

Well it's that time of year again. The youth are headed off to summer camp on Monday - and we'll be there through Saturday. I'm excited. We often hear church camp referred to as "mountaintop" experiences. This type of correlation comes mostly from Moses' times on the mountain with God. He met God in the burning bush on Mount Horeb and then again talked with God and received the Law, and eventually even saw God's physical presence on Mount Sinai (you might not have known it, but Mount Horeb and Mount Sinai are the same mountain).
The camp we are attending - Falls Creek - is actually "nestled in the Arbuckle Mountains in southern Oklahoma." So we actually will be on the mountaintops. And my prayer is that the students we are taking will be able to experience God in one of the ways Moses did - a first time revelation of who God is and what He has for them, or giving them some laws (so to speak - showing them how to live their lives), or maybe even to actually see God in a very personal and intimate, and real way being covered by His hand.
I know that a lot of people believe God doesn't reveal Himself in those ways anymore. But I think we're just too distracted and busy to notice it when He does. Maybe we can all try to take some time to wander up onto the mountaintop and visit with God. Let Him reveal Himself to you. And when He does, perhaps our faces will be so radiant that people will take notice that we've been with God.
Of course that brings to mind the downside of the mountaintop experience. We do have to come down from the mountain. But be encouraged... God continues to bring us back to the mountain, and can even speak to us away from the mountain. Jesus said we can move mountains, so we can just bring the mountain to wherever we are. I'm rambling now - but you get my point? Let God reveal Himself to you.

Worship is more than just music and to honor God in the “nitty-gritty” of living involves many aspects of life. Closing this series with “Forgive and forget” (Colossians 3:13) in this short spot will be difficult to cover completely. But here are some short suggestions.
This is easier said than done. Thinking of that person who has wronged you and to forgive them as the Lord has forgiven you will free you of bitterness in your heart. This enables you to experience the freedom of forgiveness. It is not achieved with a simple formula and you are done. Ask the Lord to help you forgive today. And then let the healing begin.
The “nitty-gritty” of life is where we live out our faith. Granted there is no magic cure-all that we can follow to insure we are worshipping every day. No “How to worship for Dummies” book to read or conference to attend. It is a daily walk, a relationship, a ife style, that the living God desires have with each of us. So love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Seek Him while He can be found. Then the “nitty-gritty” stuff will take care of itself and others see the relationship with the living God is truly life changing. Until next time God bless.

Freedom!! When we think of Independence Day we think FREEDOM!
Definitions: 1. the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint. 2. exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc. 3. the power to determine action without restraint. 4. personal liberty, as opposed to bondage or slavery.
The essence of what our forefathers did for us is to give us personal freedom, primarily personal religious freedom. When I think of what has been passed on to me I feel a sense of gratitude and thankfulness. I also realize a couple of things inherent in freedom:
First, freedom is only useful if we exercise it. We have to take advantage of our freedom and put it to good use. If we simply take it for granted or we don’t really aspire for greatness then we are wasting our freedom.
Second, and most important, real freedom was not won on the 4th of July but on the cross. Jesus Christ did for us what no one else could do. It’s great for us to celebrate our freedom but even during this great American holiday may we never forget the source of our ultimate freedom.
Last, our freedom is something that we must be willing to lay down. “Whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.” Mark 10:44 (NIV)
