“Encourage One Another Daily”
That is what the writer of Hebrews tells us to do in chapter three and verse thirteen. Why is this so important? All of us need encouragement. And from this verse it is clear that we need that encouragement every single day to avoid the hardening of our hearts that comes from sin. This verse shows us that we need each other. We can’t be a lone ranger disciple.
I want to take this opportunity to encourage each of you. Let me encourage you today to stand firm against temptation in your life. Let me encourage you to be faithful in your walk with the Lord and in your service to His Church. Let me encourage you not to be a complainer or whiner or moaner but to be one who is positive and lifts up those around you. The easy path is to be negative. The easy road says, “No, we can’t do that” or “Life is not fair” or “Poor me.” But let me encourage you to take your eyes off of your problems and seek out those around you to offer an encouraging word.
In Jude 1:15-16 it talks about ungodly sinners. It says they are “grumblers and faultfinders.” The implication is clear. If we are truly seeking after the Lord then grumbling and complaining and looking for the negative are not a part of our lifestyle.
Let me conclude by taking this one step further. Let me encourage you to be an encouragement to our church staff. Just remember that the easy road is to complain and grumble and find fault. But God says we are to encourage one another daily. Trust me when I say that anyone who works at a church needs to hear and see encouragement. Those who serve in ministerial roles especially need to hear and see affirmation. So take some time today and pray for your church staff but just as importantly, show them some encouragement as well!!

When I was seventeen, I drove a 1969 Volkswagen Camper Bus, and I was so embarrassed by it. It had the sink and toilet and fold-down furniture in the back. It had been my PaPa’s van, and somehow ended up as mine.
I remember one time when it had died on me while I was out late at night. I found myself at a gas station & carwash combination a couple of miles from home. I was pushing this old piece of junk up the tiny hills in the parking lot, letting it roll back as I jumped in and tried to pop the clutch to get it started. I don’t know how I managed to do it, but I finally got it started.
Two things here. First, I would love to have that van again. So many times I’ve wished I had something like that. It’s so useful… and cool! I think sometimes, we are unhappy with the way things are in life and then later wish it was that way again. Maybe we could take Paul’s words to heart, “I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation.” (Phil 4:12)
Second, sometimes I feel like I’m back in that parking lot, pushing that van back and forth, over and over – like Sisyphus and his rock, getting nowhere. We’d do good to remember 2 Corinthians 4:17 in those moments. These are “light and momentary troubles.”
So, get in the van. Drive. And enjoy it.

We have a couple of big events in June that everyone needs to be involved in. First, we will be having our garage sale on the 6th and 7th and we need items to sell and people to help during the sale. So bring your good, used (or new) items to sell and put them in the building out back. If you do not have an item for the garage sale you may make a cash donation - just be sure to write “Children’s Ministry” on the envelope. All money raised will benefit the children’s department in many, many ways. Second, VBS will be the 22nd through the 27th and we need your help. We need teachers, helpers and food for the workers each night. There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the back of the auditorium.
Children’s camp will be July 2 – 6 at Riverbend Retreat center for children in grades 3-6 (Completed). If you have a child, grandchild or friend who may be interested, let me know and I’ll get you all of the information. Also, we need scholarships. Camp cost is $165 and we do not want any child to be excluded because of finances, so any donation amount will be gladly accepted and used to send a child to camp.
Thanks for all of your help and support for our children’s ministry here at FBCWS.

I have the short article this time and so much to say about worship and honoring the Lord when it gets down to the nitty-gritty of living. Let’s jump in!
Take care of yourself (Rm. 12:1) Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. And as a living sacrifice, it represents the totality of all that you are and do for the Lord. Do you treat it as you should or are you a receptacle for the fast-food drive-thru? Take inventory and ask the Lord how to make your body a better home for His Spirit.
Lend a hand. And a shoulder (Gal. 6:2) If you live on the fourth floor of an apartment, then you know it’s no fun to carry up the groceries each week. Likewise, it’s not always a thrill to deal with the incredible burden of our weaknesses. When a fellow believer is weighed down by temptation or spiritual failure, how will you help shoulder the load? Through prayer and encouragement, you can “carry each other’s burdens, and fulfill the law of Christ.”
Let’s us encourage each other to maintain the temple and be willing to assist in carrying the burden so that together we continue worshipping Christ thru the “nitty-gritty” of life.
