News Spotlight

The Children's Department is off to a great start. We have been averaging 6-8 kids on Sunday night for Children's Choir. That is up from two Sunday night kids just a couple of months ago.
On Wednesday nights for TeamKID we consistently have 8 kids, but we have had as many as 13. WOW!!! This number is also up from just a few months ago. Bruce and Chris are doing a great job with Children's Choir, the kids love choir. With the help of Jennifer Hixon and Suzanne Guardiola TeamKID is just getting better and better.
The children are really interacting and learning new songs. Some of the songs, I would like to see the kids perform on a Sunday evening for you. They have also started asking lots of questions and understanding the Bible stories. In TeamKID we had a movie night on the 13th, but we will be back to the lessons on the 20th, this is when we will talk about Jesus being tempted by Satan while in the desert. I truly feel that the TeamKID program will grow as our children do.
On Sunday, February 10th we took 8 children to the White Settlement Nursing Center. The kids made a Valentine’s bag for each resident and they had a 10 minute performance for them. Some of the songs the kids sang were, "His banner over me is LOVE", "Jesus LOVES me", "Happy all the time", and a few others. We look forward to doing this again.
As most of you know, we will soon have a change in the Minister to our Children (pending the outcome of the vote). Due to this possibility I have chosen to postpone the planned outings for March and April. This way there will not be any conflict with the new Minister's plans.  I would also like to take this opportunity to say "Thank You" to the church for allowing me to minister to our children over the last 4 months. I have deeply enjoyed this experience and I have learned a great deal from it. I will be praying for the continued growth in our children’s department. Thank you all for your love and support during this time.

News Spotlight

On Wednesday Nights we have been looking at John Ortberg’s book about the Game of Life and how when we die it all goes back in the box. If you have missed this study you have missed a blessing and I would encourage you to go buy the book. I don’t recommend many books but this one is definitely worth the money.
But like all books and all studies it doesn’t really mean much unless you put it into practice. I feel like we talk too much. We need to act on what we already know. When was the last time you heard a really good sermon (sorry if it has been awhile) or read a really good book that actually spurred you into taking action in your life? I like the way The Message reads, “But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action” (James 1:25).

Normally I would not talk about this topic in a forum like this, but I think it is relevant – potty training. That’s right. Kohlton (just shy of three years old) has been using the potty a lot recently. He still has a long way to go, but it is such a wonderful feeling as a parent to know that your child is catching on to the training you have given him.
This little analogy could probably go several different directions. But don’t you think that God is excited for us and proud of us when we catch on and implement the things He’s training us for? He’s called us to disciple the nations, and I bet He is ecstatic about our efforts through GROW, and the personal evangelism we practice. He’s called us to worship, and I’m sure He is thrilled when we make choices every day that show His worth in our lives. He’s called us to become like Christ, and I know that He is delighted when we display His character in our actions.

Together we share. . .
This is the time of year that I start to feel the excitement as we near Easter. What a time of celebration it becomes! Together we as believers in the living Christ, share the new life of faith in Him. Together we share the joy of His resurrection. Together we share the single most fact that sets Christianity apart from any other religion, the empty tomb! The witness’ account of the resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ, there is no other King. Set on your calendar the Easter presentation Saturday March 15 at 7:00 pm, Sunday March 16 at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm. Tell your neighbors, friends, and family. Use it to help you share your faith!
